So you have seen the cruelty they impose on animals.
Such delicate creatures, you love them for their simpleness, their loyalty, their vulnerability.
You love them because it is human to want to protect the innocent, to care and nurture, if not one of yours, then one of them. They provide you protection, they watch your home and property, they brighten your days when you come home, they fill your rooms with singing and chirping and barKing and meowing. So when you hear a story of one of them being abused and neglected, it strikes a cord with your heart. You feel angry, how could one of ours do such a thing? To something so innocent, so sin free.
You decide all harm against these creatures who don’t now better should be outlawed. You have seen how industrialized farms suffocate these animals in small pens, they inject them with steroids and growth hormone. They inflict such torture on these animals that they are hung upside down and have their throats slit by a machine, all their lives they’ve known fear of man. Their freedom of space has been neglected, their right to their instinct and nature has been altered. They must not eat food anymore other than corn, because corn makes them big beefy and fat. While this is happening, you decide to go against it, to protest by going vegan. You leave all animal meats. You even start reading things about how cows milk is for baby cows and not for humans. You also see that eggs belong to chickens and not to us. You leave all these animal products. You start eating healthier, more conscious. It is a struggle, you have to often try new recipes, new ingredients, and everything must be checked for animal traces, and if the producer is ethical or not.
You feel great, your body feels great, your health feels great.
Here is where you forget. The majority of markets, producers, farms, produce disgusting meat from animals often abused and not cared for. You forget, that just like how you support the farmers market, where farmers have sustainable natural farming, there are farmers who have farms with animals, who love and care for their animals, who respect them and only slaughter them in the fastest most efficient way to save the animal from pain. These farmers grew up with these animals, and see them everyday, they are local farmers, not big shots. They have large room for their cattle to roam. They feed them properly, they let the animals roam within a space. They protect them from wolves and other animals which would want to kill and eat the animals. They have dogs to keep watch and fight the wolves.
The same way the aboriginal people behaved towards animals. The First Nations and Aboriginal people always held land and animals sacred in their faith. This did not stop them from occupying land, they respectfully occupied it, and took its resources as a blessing. They respected the animals, and did not hunt them for game or fun, other than to use them to the fullest capability. The meat would be eaten by the people, it would feed them and energize them. The hide would be skinned, and made into tents, clothing, boots, utensils, horse saddles and so on. Rarely they used these things for entertainment purpose, they did it to survive. To leave an animal dead, utilized was a disgrace, and a disrespect. Maybe you have too much of this to think it is not possible that people like the First Nations still exist, who care for animals.
The highest level of respect towards animals is loving them, treating them according to their statues, not abusing them and taking care of them like they are your own. But animals were made for sustain humans. Just as the wolves feast on the deer, it is in their nature, it does not mean they disrespect the deer, and the argument could be made that wolves could live off plants and leaves, but it is not in their nature.
Do not allow the social media accounts to make opinions for you, do not let anyone tell you how to think. You must always view the opinions, the information, and when you think you have enough from all sides without a bias, then you make your conclusion.
Me and you are not that different. You don’t want animals to suffer needlessly. I don’t want animals to suffer needlessly. I don’t support the big farms and industrial companies that poison our food and inject hormones into it. You don’t support them either. You eat healthy and clean. I also eat consciously knowing what goes into my mouth, and from where it is. You understand it is necessary to support those that have the betterment of the earth and its inhabitants in mind as an agenda. I also support these people. So you see, besides all the anger, besides the hurt feelings and cloudiness. You and I are not that different. Do not let them tell you that. They make it seem like it is Vegans vs the World. But I not stand with the world, and neither do I stand by vegetarianism. I stand in a small group of people understand that the ultimate respects to animals is to utilize them to the fullest, and not abuse them and not neglect them.
You and I are not that different.
You feel strong emotions when you hear how workers at a plant beat a cow and bloodied it, the same cow that was later hung that day and slaughtered. I also get emotional when I hear this.
I get angry when I see a kitten being kicked the same way I get angry when a cow is kicked, the same way we get angry when we see a bull lives its life in a ring to ‘entertain’ people. People who we hate, people who don’t know better and are stupid in their conformity. I understand why you hate them, why you think its you against them. Vegans against them, but the truth is you forgot us, the small group that stands neither with you, but not against you.
We are much alike, we would both feed and give water to a homeless dog if we found it outside our homes. So do not let them tell you that it is you against them. It is those who know, and those who don’t. It has always been those who know, and those who don’t. But these sides are not against each other, the wiser much teach the heedless. This is why knowledge is a great blessing
But.. You feel stronger, better, more focused and sharper in our decisions since going Vegan. You are correct. This is because you left a corrupt system, one which injects poison into its animals, and puts these harmful animal products along with other harmful ingredient in snacks and foods. Since you left this, your body is cooperating with you and has a good flow of energy. You will find I feel the same way, but I eat meat. However I only get hand slaughtered meat from a farm I know is good to it’s cattle, or from a small meat shop in which I know the animals are not treated like filth of the world.
You and I are not that different, I had to understand your story, now you must understand mine. And perhaps all this anger that is present will be gone between us, because we are brothers.
